Breaking Digest previously reported that Joe Biden took classified documents from his time as vice president and stashed them at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, D.C.
“Attorney General Merrick Garland has assigned the U.S. attorney in Chicago to review classified documents found at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington,” CBS News reported, based on confidential sources. “The roughly 10 documents are from President Biden’s vice-presidential office at the center, the sources said. CBS News has learned the FBI is also involved in the U.S. attorney’s inquiry.”
“The classified material was identified by personal attorneys for Mr. Biden on Nov. 2, just before the midterm elections, Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president confirmed,” the report continued.
Some news outlets have incorrectly stated that President Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago was raided by the FBI for the same “crime.” This event is different: Unlike President Trump, then VP Joe Biden wasn’t the President when he took classified records with him. Presidents have the constitutional and statutory power to declassify and take records when they leave office, VPs do not. A VP cannot declassify documents, which are covered by the Federal Records Act, which is criminal, compared with the Presidential Records Act, which is not criminal.
So, Joe Biden committed a crime when he took top-secret, classified documents with him when he left. President Trump committed zero crimes when he took documents, that he had declassified, with him when he left.
In response to the bombshell report that CBS News was the first to break, Republican Senator Ted Cruz called for a grand jury.
“Convene a grand jury,” Cruz tweeted..
“The classified material was identified by personal attorneys for Mr. Biden on Nov. 2, just before the midterm elections, Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president confirmed,” the report continued.
Yet for some reason this information wasn’t made public until now… after the midterm elections.
Does that qualify as election interference? Which is also a crime.
Representatives from the National Archives then reportedly notified the Justice Department. The Penn Biden Center is a think tank about a mile from the White House, in Washington, D.C. It is affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania and named after the current resident of the White House, Joe Biden.
