A parking garage collapsed in the Financial District of New York City on Tuesday.

Dozens of first responders were at the site of a parking garage on Ann Street in Lower Manhattan Tuesday afternoon.

According to authorities, so far there is one fatality, one injured, and at least one person unaccounted for. Rescue workers are attempting to access those affected, but the hazardous environment posed by combustible car parts and the unsteady structure is impeding their progress. Previous records indicate that there were unsafe building violations dating back to 2008 due to the presence of cracks in the concrete.

Students and faculty at Pace University have been advised that classes near their New York City campus have been canceled due to the collapse and both 33 Beekman 161 William have been evacuated.
