The presidential primaries in Michigan for both Republicans and Democrats took place on Tuesday evening.
President Trump obliterated Nikki Haley again, receiving more than 750,000 votes, 68.2% of the total, while Haley received 294,000 votes, accounting for 26.6%.
Meanwhile, Biden received 618,000 votes, representing 81%. Notably, more than 100,000 Democrat voters marked their ballots as “uncommitted”, sparking significant concern within the Biden campaign.
From CBS News:
CBS News projects that former President Donald Trump will win the Republican primary in Michigan, while President Biden will win the Democratic primary.
With 62% of the vote counted, Trump led with 67% to former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley’s 27%. Haley, fresh off her defeat in her home state of South Carolina, has vowed to stay in the race through Super Tuesday on March 5.
On the Democratic side, with 85% of the vote counted, Mr. Biden has 81% of the vote. While he did not have any challengers, there was an effort launched by Arab and Muslim Americans to vote “uncommitted” in the primary as a protest of his policy toward Israel. With 85% of the vote reported, “uncommitted” had passed the 100,000 mark with 101,050 votes, or 13%.
If “uncommitted” receives more than 15% of the vote, then delegates who are not bound to any candidate could attend the convention.
Watch:
The 100K+ "uncommitted" voters in the Michigan primary is a BIG "warning signal" for Biden, says @BretBaier.
