The Secret Service agent, who is alleged to have accused Trump of grabbing the limo steering wheel and demanding to be taken to the Capitol on January 6., has retired.

The US Secret Service confirmed to DailyMail.com on Tuesday that Assistant Director Tony Ornato is out of the agency roughly two months after his name became a lightening rod during the House of Representatives’ January 6 select committee hearings.

‘We can confirm that Anthony Ornato retired from the U.S. Secret Service on Monday in good standing after 25 years of devoted service,’ Secret Service Special Agent Kevin Helgert said.

Cassidy Hutchinson, former assistant to Trump’s chief of staff Mark Meadows, told lawmakers in June that Ornato described an incident, in which President Trump demanded Secret Service agents take him to the US Capitol on January 6, and that he became irate, tried to grab the limo steering wheel, and lunged at an agent when they refused.

Hutchinson was not in the limo when the alleged incident occurred and Ornato has denied telling her that it happened.

Hutchinson also described an incident, in which President Trump allegedly threw his plate at the wall. She was not there to witness the incident herself.

In fact, many of the statements she made to the panel of lawmakers in June have been “debunked”.

Ornato claims that he is leaving to pursue a career in the private sector, but some are theorizing that he is attempting to avoid testifying.
