Special Counsel Jack Smith is reportedly preparing to bring more charges against President Trump in Washington, D.C., as detailed in a recent CNN report.
Jack Smith has broadened his inquiry into Trump’s attempts to contest the 2020 election, with a particular focus on Trump’s fundraising activities.
Following the 2020 election, President Trump raised substantial sums of money to investigate the widespread Democrat voter fraud.
Additionally, Jack Smith is investigating how these funds were allocated for the examination of voting machines.
A non-profit organization run by Sidney Powell hired forensic experts to examine voting machines in four swing states: Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Arizona.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has charged Trump and 18 of his associates with similar allegations of computer trespass for their involvement in examining these voting machines.
CNN reported:
Special counsel Jack Smith is still pursuing his investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election a month after indicting Donald Trump for orchestrating a broad conspiracy to remain in power, a widening of the probe that raises the possibility others could still face legal peril.
Questions asked of two recent witnesses indicate Smith is focusing on how money raised off baseless claims of voter fraud was used to fund attempts to breach voting equipment in several states won by Joe Biden, according to multiple sources familiar with the ongoing investigation.
In both interviews, prosecutors have focused their questions on the role of former Trump lawyer Sidney Powell.According to invoices obtained by CNN, Powell’s non-profit, Defending the Republic, hired forensics firms that ultimately accessed voting equipment in four swing states won by Biden: Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Arizona.
Jack Smith filed 37 federal charges against Trump in Miami back in June.
These charges included 31 counts related to the willful retention of national defense information and an additional 6 process crimes linked to his interactions with his attorney.
Walt Nauta, a Mar-a-Lago aide, faced indictments alongside President Trump as a co-conspirator in these cases.
Recently, Jack Smith leveled 3 more charges against Trump in the ongoing investigation concerning classified documents held at Mar-a-Lago.
The superseding indictment, filed in the Southern District of Florida, alleges that Trump was involved in a plot to erase security footage at Mar-a-Lago.
Just recently, in the January 6 case overseen by Jack Smith in DC, Trump was charged with 4 counts: Conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.
