The Israel Air Force struck Hezbollah facilities throughout Lebanon on Sunday in response to a Hezbollah rocket attack that killed 12 Druze youths on a soccer field in an Israeli town in the Golan Heights. It was the deadliest attack on Israel since October 7, 2023, and raised fears that the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza could expand into a war with Hezbollah in the Bekaa Valley, the heartland of the group.

Yesterday, Hezbollah fired at least two rockets into the Israeli town of Majdal Shams.

The town is predominantly Muslim Druze, who retain Syrian citizenship under the 1981 law annexing the area and are not drafted into the Israel Defense Forces.

The attack prompted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to cut short his visit to the United States and rush back to Israel to meet with his cabinet to plan a response.

As Breaking Digest previously reported, the rockets hit a soccer field within the city.

Hezbollah quickly shifted from celebrating the attack to denying any involvement.

This came after terrorist sympathizers claimed on social media that the rocket was an errant Iron Dome missile.

Israel’s response came swiftly.

IDF: Overnight, the IAF struck a series of Hezbollah terror targets both deep inside Lebanese territory and in southern Lebanon, including weapons caches and terrorist infrastructure in the areas of Chabriha, Borj El Chmali, and Beqaa, Kfarkela, Rab El Thalathine, Khiam, and Tayr Harfa.
