House Republicans have nominated Majority Leader Steve Scalise for Speaker of the House.
House Republicans met behind closed doors Wednesday morning, where they chose Rep. Steve Scalice (R-LA) as their nominee for House Speaker, paving the way for a vote on the floor to elect a new speaker.

As Breaking Digest reported, Kevin McCarthy was removed from his role as House Speaker in a 216-210 vote following a Motion to Vacate the Chair filed by Rep. Matt Gaetz.
Last week, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and Rep. Steve Scalise both announced their bid for House Speaker.
