A former Planned Parenthood director took his own life days after police attempted to raid his home in a child pornography investigation.

Tim Yergeau, 36, worked at the Southern New England branch of Planned Parenthood as a strategic communications director, overseeing all 15 locations in the region.

New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson said Yergeau was the subject of a child pornography investigation. “The person who died was definitely the suspect in a child pornography investigation and the person who committed suicide,” Jacobson told the New Haven Registrar.

“It was an open investigation, so he knew he was going to be arrested,” he added.

On April 6, police intended to raid Yergeau’s residence but raided his upstairs neighbor’s apartment instead by mistake.

Five days later Yergeau took his own life.

The Blaze reported:

A man who killed himself after his apartment was raided by police as a part of an investigation into child pornography in New Haven, Connecticut, had previously worked as a director for Planned Parenthood.

“The person who died was definitely the suspect in a child pornography investigation and the person who committed suicide,” said New Haven police chief Karl Jacobson to the Middletown Press.

The Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner confirmed that 35-year-old Tim Yergeau had died as a result of a suicide on Tuesday.

Yergeau had previously worked as the director of strategic communications for the Planned Parenthood of Southern New England.

FOX News also got the scoop:

Police have yet to release details of the warrant and charges against Yergeau, saying there are still two open investigations related to the matter. Police have also declined to reveal what was found inside Yergeau’s apartment once they searched it.

Police say they have also opened an inquiry into how Yergeau committed suicide following the raid.

Stacey Wezenter, Yergeau’s neighbor who experienced the police raid, filed a complaint with the New Haven Police Department. Wezenter said the raid left her traumatized. “What if I had a gun permit? What if I came down the hallway with a gun? Would I have gotten shot? What if my 4-year-old had woken up? Would they have shot him?”
