Another train derailment has been reported.

The incident took place in the town of Verdigris, just outside of Tulsa, Tuesday evening.

Authorities say the cars that derailed were empty and there is no safety risk to the community.

The cause of the derailment has not been determined.

VERDIGRIS, Okla. — Emergency crews responded to a train derailment near Verdigris on Tuesday evening.

It happened around 6 p.m. on Route 66 near Franklin Road, that is between Catoosa and Claremore. Verdigris fire told 2 News there is no concern for the public from this derailment.

Chief Mike Shaffer with Verdigris Fire told 2 News Oklahoma, “the cars that derailed were empty and there is no safety risk to the community.”

It’s estimated the clean-up will take less than 24 hours. BNSF is waiting on the appropriate equipment to arrive to replace the cars back onto the tracks.

The cause of the derailment has not been determined.
