Republican leaders are considering removing Joe Biden from state presidential ballots, in response to the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to remove President Trump from the state’s 2024 GOP primary ballot.

Earlier this month, the legal challenge aiming to prevent Trump from appearing on Colorado’s 2024 presidential ballot, citing the 14th Amendment, progressed to the state’s supreme court.

The legal arguments hinge on Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution, which pertains to disqualifying public officials involved in “insurrection or rebellion against” the US.

It’s important to note that Trump hasn’t faced charges related to insurrection or rebellion against the United States.

Following the Colorado Supreme Court’s 4-3 verdict against Trump, there’s been a surge in demands from Republicans such as Anthony Sabatini, a Congressional candidate in Florida, and Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, to remove Biden from their respective state ballots.

Lt. Governor Patrick, speaking to Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, proposed the removal of Biden from Texas’ 2024 ballot due to his administration’s handling of immigration along the U.S.-Mexico border.

“We believe in democracy in Texas, maybe we should take Joe Biden off the ballot in Texas for allowing 8 million people to cross the border since he’s been President, disrupting our state far more than anything anyone else has done in recent history,” Patrick said.

“We’ve filed another and passed another bill to deal with human smuggling because the Biden administration is doing nothing, Laura, as we all know.”

“We know that hundreds of people on the terrorist watch list have been apprehended. That doesn’t count all the people we don’t catch. We know that sex offenders, rapists, murderers have crossed the border and Biden does nothing. He puts our lives at risk. They don’t care,” Patrick concluded.

Watch:

Fox News reported the unprecedented surge in illegal border crossings, totaling over 12,600, including 11,000 apprehensions and encountering more than 1,600 illegals at ports of entry. A significant number are waiting to be processed at a Del Rio, Texas center due to the recent surge in crossings at Eagle Pass. Detention facilities are overwhelmed, operating at over 260% capacity.

Republican candidate for Congress (FL-11), Anthony Sabatini, also called for Biden’s removal, tweeting, “REMOVE BIDEN FROM THE FLORIDA BALLOT NOW!”

Likewise, political analysts echoed this sentiment regarding Biden’s removal in Republican-led states. This circumstance presents an unprecendented situation in American political history.

Colorado removing Trump from the ballot marks the first successful 14th Amendment challenge to the 2024 Trump Presidential campaign.

The state’s highest court provided space for an appeal, with the ruling scheduled to take effect on January 4, 2024.
