Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is urging the House Oversight Committee to investigate civil rights abuses of J6 political prisoners.
She also wants to investigate the murder of Ashli Babbitt.
Human Events Editor Ben Kew stated, “This should be an absolute priority for the Republican-controlled house.”
He is not wrong.
In addition to being deprived of due process, reports have claimed, through family, friends, and official channels, that these political prisoners are isolated and living in squalid conditions.
Based on official reports of DC jails where many are held, conditions are horrific, in some cases objectively inhumane, and indefensible.
Members of Congress have also claimed conditions are intolerable. One noted: “What’s happening to these people being held in custody is wrong, it’s unconstitutional … a violation of their rights …”
Even mainstream media and judicial authorities have begun to acknowledge things are not right.
In a Tuesday House Oversight Committee meeting, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene spoke about the civil rights abuses experienced by Trump supporters who were arrested in the J6 protest and the murder of Ashli Babbitt for which there has been no trial.
“There’s a woman in this room whose daughter was murdered on January 6, Ashli Babbitt, and … there’s never been a trial. As a matter of fact, no one has cared about the person that shot and killed her, and no one in this Congress has really addressed that issue, January 6 committee didn’t address it,” Marjorie Taylor Greene said.
“I believe that there are many people that came into the Capitol on January 6 whose civil rights and liberties are being violated heavily,” she continued.
“This committee will, I hope Mr. Chairman, look into those civil rights abuses because they’re happening in a jail right here in this city,” she said.
“I’ve been in that jail and it’s not just the January 6 defendants, pre-trial by the way, it’s many of the inmates in there who are living in horrific conditions,” she added.
“I would like to say and point out that civil rights and liberties are important, but we have to make sure that we crack down on the two-tier justice system because that needs to end,” Greene concluded.
