Trump’s Attorneys Respond to Jack Smith’s Plea for So-Called “Protective Order” Following Judge’s Hasty Deadline

President Trump’s legal team reacted to the rushed deadline set by leftist DC Judge Tanya Chutkan for addressing Jack Smith’s request for a so-called “protective order”, which is essentially a thinly disguised attempt at a gag order.

On Friday, in a post on Truth Social, President Trump said, “IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!”, following Jack Smith’s recent federal indictment.

In response to President Trump’s statement on Truth Social, Jack Smith asked the Obama-appointed judge to prevent Trump from sharing information about the case with the public.

On Saturday, Judge Chutkan, who has shown a clear bias and previously worked with Hunter Biden, granted President Trump until Monday at 5 PM to address a motion for a protective order submitted by Jack Smith.

Judge Chutkan gave Trump a mere 24 hours to provide a response, deviating from the standard 14-day period.

Such abuse is targeted exclusively at President Trump and Conservatives.

Trump’s legal team responded to Jack Smith’s request for what he is calling a “protective order”, and raised concerns related to the First Amendment.

“In a trial about First Amendment rights, the government seeks to restrict Frist Amendment right. Worse, it does so against its administration’s primary political opponent, during an election season in which the administration, prominent party members, and media allies have campaigned on the indictment and proliferated its false allegations,” Trump’s counsel wrote.

According to Trump’s legal team, the government did not even reply to a draft of their brief until 11:51 am on Monday.

“Without doubt, the Court’s decision to vary from the default Local Rules and allow President Trump less than one business day to respond to this important Motion is a concerning development, inconsistent with his due process rights,” Trump’s lawyers wrote.

They added, “Presiden Trump respectfully requests the Court allow the parties 14 days to respond to all written motions, as LCrR 47(b) provides and fundamental fairness requires.”

Techno Fog weighed in on the abuse by Judge Chutkan:

Trump’s lawyers claimed Joe Biden exploited Trump’s indictment, making a subtle reference to his administration’s pursuit of prosecuting President Trump, shortly before the arraignment.

Below is the video Joe Biden shared on Twitter, in which he taunts Trump as he was en route to a federal courthouse for his arrest and arraignment:

Trump’s legal team referred to Jack Smith’s so-called “protective order”, a gag order.

“However, the need to protect that information does not require a blanket gag order over all documents produced by the government. Rather, the Court can, and should, limit its protective order to genuinely sensitive materials,” they wrote.

Like his “boxes hoax” case, Jack Smith is seeking to categorize almost all documents in the January 6 case as sensitive and subject to a gag order.
