Lia Thomas, a trans-identified biological male, has once again become a subject of controversy, this time because of a photo circulated on social media showing him wearing a shirt with the phrase “Antifa Super Soldier”. The photo was shared by conservative journalist Andy Ngo.

The term “Antifa Super Soldier” is used to refer to the more militant faction of Antifa. Thomas, a competitive swimmer at the University of Pennsylvania, has gained prominence as a notable figure in the ongoing discussions surrounding transgender rights in sports.

In the Instagram post, Thomas was seen donning that Antifa-supporting shirt, along with black shorts and a black BDSM harness.

In 2022, Thomas became the first transgender biological male to win an NCAA Division I national championship, claiming victory in the women’s 500-yard freestyle event. This accomplishment thrust Thomas into the spotlight and ignited a contentious discussion about men participating in women’s sports.

Before deciding to compete against women, Thomas was 65th on the men’s team for the 500-yard freestyle and 554th in the 200-yard freestyle.

Paula Scanlon, a former teammate of Thomas, initially appeared anonymously in Matt Walsh’s documentary “What is a Woman” but has now chosen to reveal her identity. She continues to advocate against the inclusion of men in women’s and girls’ sports, taking an active role in the ongoing fight.
