On Wednesday morning, Special Counsel John Durham appeared before the House Judiciary Committee on Capitol Hill, sharing insights from his investigation into the politically-charged Trump-Russia probe conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Responding to inquiries from members of the House Judiciary Committee on both sides of the aisle, Durham emphasized that his team’s investigation revealed apparent political bias, highlighting the need for accountability within the Bureau to restore public faith and confidence.
House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan yielded the floor to Durham, granting him the opportunity to speak.
During his opening statement, Durham strongly slammed the bureau for launching a sweeping investigation into President Trump based on politically funded and uncorroborated opposition research.
“The FBI was too willing to accept and use politically funded and uncorroborated opposition research such as the Steele Dossier,” Durham said.
Watch:
As Rep. Jordan (R-OH) continued his line of questioning, Durham revealed that the FBI had re-assigned an agent from the Trump-Russia case due to her intention to investigate Democrat operative Charlie Dolan, a significant contributor to the now-discredited Steele Dossier.
“Significant red flags were ignored by the FBI,” Durham said.
Watch:
Rep. Russell Fry (R-SC) asked Durham whether his investigation concluded that Crossfire Hurricane – the Trump-Russia hoax – was warranted.
In response, Durham stated that there was “not a legitimate basis” for the probe, which had been an extremely divisive matter, further fueled by blatant lies from Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff, who persistently claimed to possess concrete evidence of collusion.
Watch:
Durham also described his team’s findings as “sobering”, saying that both he and his team were appalled by the politically-charged behavior from the bureau.
“Our findings were sobering,” Durham said. “The problems identified in the report are not susceptible to overnight fixes… What is required is accountability.”
Watch:
Durham also had to endure tantrums from Democrats, including Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN), who criticized Durham for investigating the truth about the Trump-Russia hoax, suggesting, absurdly, that it would harm his reputation.
Unfazed, Durham responded firmly, stating, “My concern about my reputation is with the people who I respect, and my family, and my Lord, and I’m perfectly comfortable with my reputation with them, sir.”
