Singer Neyo has spoken out against parents who consent to their children undergoing gender reassignment surgery.

In an interview with VladTV host Gloria Velez on Saturday, the 43-year-old expressed his concerns.

“When did it become a good idea to let [children] make a life-changing decision for thyself,” Neyo asked, adding, “When did that happen?”

The artist behind “Let Me Love You” expressed his belief that parents have nearly lost sight of their role as guardians.

He mentioned that if you allow a child to eat candy all day, that’s exactly what they will do because they are children.

“He can’t drive a car yet, but he can decide his sex,” the singer argued.

The singer said that he had heard in California, children might be removed from their homes if the parents don’t affirm the child’s gender. Velez confirmed the accuracy of this claim, prompting the singer to exclaim, “that makes no sense!”

Although she doesn’t specify the exact law, it is likely referring to AB-957. The revised bill may potentially hold parents liable for child abuse in custody disputes if they fail to “affirm” their child’s gender identity.

Neyo and Velez discussed the impressionable nature of children, noting how they readily believe in figures like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny during their early years.

He emphasized the importance for parents to “remember who you’re dealing with.”

Neyo takes pride in being the father to seven children, and openly expressed that it is his #1 role in an Instagram post on July 7.

“I’m a FATHER before I’m anything else. Not money, not fame, not even the love of the craft,” he wrote. “I do this for THEM. THEY are my reason.

“I’m nowhere near perfect and that’s ok. My kids love me.”

“I LOVE MY TRIBE!! I LOVE MY SQUAD!! AND I WILL FOR ALL OF THIS LIFE AND THE NEXT…AND THE NEXT!”

Neyo and Velez reflected on how it was when they were growing up and reminisced about the “good old days’.

“I just personally come from an era where a man was a man and a woman was a woman. And there wasn’t but two genders and that’s just how I rocked,” he stated.

Velez agreed that it was the same for her growing up.

“You could identify as a goldfish if you feel like, that ain’t my business, it becomes my business when you try to make me play the game. I’m not gonna call you a goldfish.”
