Update below.
Republican governors nationwide are uniting in support of Texas Governor Greg Abbott as he takes a stand against the Biden regime’s efforts to strip Texas Rangers of their authority to detain and deport illegal aliens.
This action follows the recent ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court allowing Border Patrol agents to remove razor wire fencing installed by Texas at the border.
Earlier this month, Governor Abbott took control of Shelby Park near Eagle Pass, a frequently used location for illegal border crossings.
In his seizure of the area, Governor Abbott has forced all federal agents out, prompting the Biden regime to file multiple lawsuits against him.
Governor Abbott (R) had previously installed approximately 30 miles of razor wire near Eagle Pass on the Texas-Mexico border to counter the influx of illegal aliens allowed in by the Biden regime.
In October, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton took legal action against the Biden regime over their removal of razor wire at the border.
On Monday, the US Supreme Court, in a 5-4 vote, sided with the Biden regime, allowing Border Patrol agents to remove razor wire installed on the Texas-Mexico border.
In defiance of the Supreme Court’s decision, Texas officials, including Governor Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton, have vowed to continue measures to safeguard Texas’ sovereignty.
On Wednesday, Texas National Guard members began installing more razor wire in Eagle Pass.
Also on Wednesday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott released a fiery statement affirming Texas’ constitutional right to self-defense against the criminal actions of the Biden regime.
In Governor Abbott’s statement, he underscored the federal government’s breach of constitutional duties, accusing Joe Biden of both violating immigration laws and neglecting his responsibilities. “President Biden has refused to enforce those laws and has even violated them, leading to record numbers in illegal immigration,” Abbott stated, citing the over 6 million illegal border crossings in the past three years.
From Governor Abbott’s statement:
“The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting States, including immigration laws on the books right now,” reads the statement. “President Biden has instructed his agencies to ignore federal statutes that mandate the detention of illegal immigrants. The failure of the Biden Administration to fulfill the duties imposed by Article IV, § 4 has triggered Article I, § 10, Clause 3, which reserves to this State the right of self-defense. For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself. That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary.”

Texas’ strong stance has drawn support from several other Republican-led states, intensifying the standoff between state and federal authorities. Governors from Virginia, Florida, South Dakota, Georgia, Montana, and Oklahoma have publicly announced their support for Texas’s right to self-defense against criminal actions of the Biden regime.

Here is the statement:
“President Biden and his Administration have left Americans and our country completely vulnerable to unprecedented illegal immigration pouring across the Southern border. Instead of upholding the rule of law and securing the border, the Biden Administration has attacked and sued Texas for stepping up to protect American citizens from historic levels of illegal immigrants, deadly drugs like fentanyl, and terrorists entering our country.
“We stand in solidarity with our fellow Governor, Greg Abbott, and the State of Texas in utilizing every tool and strategy, including razor wire fences, to secure the border. We do it in part because the Biden Administration is refusing to enforce immigration laws already on the books and is illegally allowing mass parole across America of migrants who entered our country illegally.
“The authors of the U.S. Constitution made clear that in times like this, states have a right of self-defense, under Article 4, Section 4 and Article 1, Section 10, Clause 3 of the U.S. Constitution. Because the Biden Administration has abdicated its constitutional compact duties to the states, Texas has every legal justification to protect the sovereignty of our states and our nation.”
LifeSiteNews has more details:
Twenty-five states have declared their support for Texas Gov. Greg Abbott as he secures his southern border in defiance of the Biden administration’s efforts to remove razor wire there.
On Thursday, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and 24 fellow Republican governors issued a statement backing Gov. Abbott’s use of “every tool and strategy, including razor wire fences, to secure the border.”
“We do it in part because the Biden Administration is refusing to enforce immigration laws already on the books and is illegally allowing mass parole across America of migrants who entered our country illegally,” the governors declared.
They noted that “Instead of upholding the rule of law and securing the border, the Biden Administration has attacked and sued Texas for stepping up to protect American citizens from historic levels of illegal immigrants, deadly drugs like fentanyl, and terrorists entering our country.”
In October, Texas sued the Biden administration after Border Patrol agents cut portions of the razor wire along the Rio Grande border, decrying the Department of Homeland Security’s destruction of state property and obstruction of Texas’ border security efforts.
On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court voted 5-4 to allow federal border-patrol agents to cut down wire erected by the state, NPR reported, vacating a previous injunction from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that prevented the federal agents from dismantling the wire. Trump-appointed Justice Amy Coney Barrett cast the deciding vote, siding with the court’s four liberals.
Despite the decision, Republican Gov. Abbott released a statement on Wednesday accusing President Joe Biden of “violat[ing] his oath to faithfully execute immigration laws enacted by Congress” by suing Texas for taking action to secure its border instead of prosecuting immigrants who have illegally entered the country.
