Rep. Mike Johnson’s speakership is in jeopardy after he announced his support for funding the war in Ukraine.
Breaking Digest previously reported that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) submitted a motion to vacate the chair and remove Mike Johnson as House Speaker due to his handling of the House Omnibus bill, which allocates funds for the government until September 30.
Now, according to Jake Sherman of Punchbowl News, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) announced that he will join Rep. Greene in co-sponsoring the motion to vacate the chair.
NEW — TOM MASSIE said in a closed House Republican meeting that he’s going to cosponsor the motion to vacate, per several sources in the room.

According to Sherman, Massie informed Johnson that the sole method to evade being removed as Speaker was to “clean the barn and resign.”
MASSIE told Johnson in front of the entire House Republican Conference that he should clean the barn and resign or else he’ll be vacated. https://t.co/hPMthGw9RW

Massie later confirmed the news in an X post:
I just told Mike Johnson in conference that I’m cosponsoring the Motion to Vacate that was introduced by @RepMTG.

He should pre-announce his resignation (as Boehner did), so we can pick a new Speaker without ever being without a GOP Speaker.
Massie’s support is particularly important because the GOP holds only a one-vote majority thanks to RINOs like Kevin McCarthy, Ken Buck, and Mike Gallagher who resigned early in order to sabotage the GOP and give more power to the Democrats.
Massie Massie revealed that Johnson had no intention of stepping down.
