Candidate for Los Angeles mayor and U.S. Rep. Karen Bass says her home was burglarized overnight and is working with LAPD in discovering who may be responsible for the burglary and several others in the area.
Bass said Saturday afternoon that her home had been broken into late Friday evening and two firearms were stolen, “despite being safely and securely stored.”
No other valuables were taken, Bass said.
“It’s unnerving and, unfortunately, it’s something that far too many Angelenos have faced,” she said.
It’s unclear exactly when the break-in happened, but Bass was in attendance and spoke at the National Hispanic Media Coalition annual Impact Awards Gala Friday evening.
Bass said she has been in contact with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Bass, who is running for LA Mayor, is most recently known for her criticism on policing and authored the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, an executive order that was signed by Biden in May.
