Fernando Pérez Algaba, a 41-year-old millionaire crypto influencer, was reported missing in Argentina after allegedly failing to return the keys to his apartment rental.
Over the weekend, a group of children made a shocking discovery of Algaba’s remains in the town of Ingeniero Budge, Buenos Aires Province. The children found cleanly amputated body parts inside a red suitcase. Authorities have launched an investigation into what appears to be a “professional” murder.
The New York Post reports:
Police have launched a murder investigation after the dismembered remains of missing millionaire Fernando Pérez Algaba, 41, were discovered by a group of children in Argentina over the weekend.
The grisly case came to light after the kids found a red suitcase filled with body parts while playing by a stream in the town of Ingeniero Budge, Buenos Aires Province, on Sunday, Jam Press reported.
The children’s parents notified the Buenos Aires police, who inspected the package and reportedly found the victim’s legs and forearm inside, discovering another whole arm in the stream.
On Wednesday, authorities discovered the missing head and torso, El País reported.
The body parts were cleanly amputated, suggesting the work of a professional, local media reported.
Meanwhile, a subsequent autopsy revealed that the victim had been shot three times before the dismemberment.
Police identified Algaba by his fingerprints and also by distinctive tattoos on the body parts. The entrepreneur had been declared missing since last Tuesday.
The businessman had accumulated millions renting luxury vehicles and selling cryptocurrency, which he frequently advertised to his 900,000 followers on Instagram.
The gruesome death of Algaba adds to the disturbing trend of prominent crypto tycoons being found deceased.
The Sun reported that the “self-made millionaire” had posted cryptic messages on Instagram just days before his remains were discovered, alluding to “evil people” in the world and being unable to escape his “problems.”
From The Sun:
Just days before his limbs were discovered, the influencer had posted a series of cryptic messages on his Instagram account.
He told his 919,000 followers there were “evil people” in the world and mysteriously wrote about being unable to escape from his “problems.”
In one clip, the heavily-inked crypto mogul shared a selfie in one of his flash cars with chilling accompanying audio.
It said: “It’s incredible how there are such evil people in the world that while you’re thinking of helping them, they’re thinking of destroying you.”
Fernando also sent a puzzling message, seemingly to his mother, explaining he “needs to clear his head.”
It read: “And from here, I am realising two things: that we can’t escape from problems and that problems will follow us.”
He typically posted snaps of him in fast cars, enjoying luxury holidays and dripping in designer clothes.
