A group of over 100 migrants from the southern border were moved to an Illinois suburb after being welcomed in Chicago – an action that is reportedly frustrating local officials.

This just a week after Mayor Lightfoot, who can’t control her own city, bashed Texas’ Governor while claiming she’ll take as many people from Texas as she can.

What has shocked many is that Lightfoot managed to move the migrants without notifying Burr Ridge Mayor.

“I’m glad that the American dream is still alive for a lot of people as it was for my grandparents when they came here and for most people that are in this country. So very happy for them,” Grasso said. “But unhappy that nobody from the city, from the state called and told me or my village administrator or any of our elected officials that this was happening.”

The migrants are staying at a Hampton Inn in Burr Ridge and a Holiday Inn in Countryside, according to reporting by WGN-TV. An estimated 300 migrants have been bused from Texas to Chicago in the past two weeks.

While Chicago is a sanctuary city and Cook County is a sanctuary county, the migrants at the Burr Ridge Hampton Inn are in DuPage County. The county’s sanctuary status is unclear. However, Burr Ridge’s Mayor Garry Grasso pledged to protect his county, previously stating he would work to secure the border and defund sanctuary cities.
