The Israeli Ministry of Defense and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have issued an urgent alert to the United Nations, as reported by Axios.

Shortly before midnight, the UN received notification instructing them to evacuate their personnel and to advise Palestinians living north of Wadi Gaza to relocate to the southern part of the Gaza Strip within the next 24 hours. UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric confirmed this message, and it was also verified by a source with direct knowledge of the situation.

More than 1 million Palestinians inhabit the region north of Wadi Gaza. The abrupt warning from Israeli authorities may signal an impending ground operation by the IDF.

According to sources cited by Axios, the IDF’s reason for this urgent notice is to reduce civilian casualties during their military actions.

The IDF has revealed that Hamas is intentionally concealing military targets within residential buildings and civilian areas, using civilians including children as human shields. Hamas has been using a school, situated in close proximity to a hospital and other civilian buildings, to hide a terror tunnel.

In response to the recent attack by Hamas terrorists, the Israeli military has conducted heavy airstrikes in Gaza. Additionally, a “complete siege” has been enforced on the enclave, which is home to more than 2 million Palestinians.

UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told Axios, “Today, just before midnight local time, team leaders of the UN Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the Department of Safety and Security in Gaza were informed by their liaison officers in the Israeli military that the entire population of Gaza north of Wadi Gaza should relocate to southern Gaza within the next 24 hours.”

Dujarric further explained, “This amounts to approximately 1.1 million people. The same order applied to all UN staff and those sheltered in UN facilities – including schools, health centers, and clinics.”

“The United Nations considers it impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences,” Dujarric emphasized. He also strongly appealed for the order to be rescinded, warning that it could transform an already tragic situation into a calamitous one.”

Below is the IDF’s announcement to the civilians in the Gaza City:

The IDF calls for the evacuation of all civilians of Gaza City from their homes southwards for their own safety and protection and move to the area south of the Wadi Gaza, as shown on the map.

The Hamas terrorist organization waged a war against the State of Israel and Gaza City is an area where military operations take place. This evacuation is for your own safety.

You will be able to return to Gaza City only when another announcement permitting it is made. Do not approach the area of the security fence with the State of Israel.

Hamas terrorists are hiding in Gaza City inside tunnels underneath houses and inside buildings populated with innocent Gazan civilians.

Civilians of Gaza City, evacuate south for your own safety and the safety of your families and distance yourself from Hamas terrorists who are using you as human shields.

In the following days, the IDF will continue to operate significantly in Gaza City and make extensive efforts to avoid harming civilians.
