Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia), Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida), and other Republicans held a press conference to discuss Ukraine funding. Rep. Greene discussed her plans to introduce a resolution to Congress auditing funding to Ukraine. The lawmakers called for transparency over the appropriations of tax-payer dollars, compared Ukraine funding to border security funding, and referenced the recent FTX cryptocurrency market crash.

Rep. Greene kicked off the press conference by highlighting how the money given to Ukraine could have been used to address the flooding of Fentanyl into the U.S. by Mexican drug cartels.

Rep. Greene also noted that, in light of the news surrounding the situation with FTX, it is possible that the taxpayer dollars going to Ukraine, labeled as aid, could have ended up here in the United States, in Democrat donors’ pockets and then used to help Democrats campaigns.

“Our job is to use the American taxpayer dollars for the security of our country and for the American people,” Rep. Greene stated, while explaining the resolution.

Rep. Massie followed up by promising to figure out where all the money has gone when it comes to Ukraine, stating that American support for funding to Ukraine had waned among the American people, so much so that Nancy Pelosi connected federal aid to Ukraine to hurricane relief and COVID-19 funding. He stressed the need for a full audit and an Inspector General to provide oversight of the billions of taxpayer dollars that have been spent on supposed Ukraine aid, citing the waste and fraud that was uncovered by an Inspector General with the funding to Afghanistan.

“We need an Inspector General. The waste, fraud, abuse we saw from the Inspector General who investigated the funding to Afghanistan proves we have a lot to uncover in Ukraine,” concluded Massie.

Rep. Gaetz, said that laws had been violated and regulations had been ignored in relation to the funding already sent to Ukraine.

“The American people are not going to support this war without tough questions. The incoming Republican majority cannot and will not support any more funding,” said Gaetz.

Congressman-elect from Florida’s 7th congressional district, Cory Mills, was also there. Mills is a combat veteran and was appointed by President Trump as an advisor on national security matters. He won the GOP primary in August and defeated his Democrat opponent by more than 15% to flip the seat formerly occupied by J6 sham committee member, Stephanie Murphy.

“As elected officials, we are stewards of the American taxpayer’s money and they deserve transparency. We must control the out of control inflationary spending. If we have billions to spend, it should be on securing the border, protecting Americans from the deadly Fentanyl poisoning our communities, and taking better care of our veterans,” said Mills.
