*Active shooter situation developing in Raleigh*
“The Raleigh Police Department is currently on the scene of an active shooting in the area of the Neuse River Greenway near Osprey Cove Drive and Bay Harbor Drive.”
“Residents in that area are advised to remain in their homes.” Raleigh Police Department said at 5:55 pm ET.
According to unconfirmed reports, a man dressed in camo was shooting at people on a wooded trail.
Update: 1 off duty cop has been killed and four others are injured.
“A high-level city official has confirmed with WRAL News that an off-duty officer was killed. Wake Med confirms they have received four patients at their trauma center related to the shooting. There’s no word on their conditions.” – WRAL reported.
Sources told WRAL that “multiple people are dead from the shooting.”

“I heard two gunshots, and they were really loud so I knew something was close by and then I heard three other gunshots,” said Robert, a witness who spoke with WRAL News and did not want to give his last name. “I saw him basically pass my house in the backyard. He had a long barrel shotgun. He was dressed in camo. He had a full backpack on that was also camouflage.”
Robert said he called 911 about 5 p.m.
Governor Roy Cooper said he has spoken with Raleigh Mayor Mary Ann Baldwin and told state law enforcement to provide assistance.

A high-level city leader told WRAL News that an off-duty officer was killed. Sources have told WRAL that multiple people are dead.
WakeMed has received four patients at their trauma center related to the shooting. A source told WRAL News a suspect had been captured as of 8 p.m. The suspect is alive, though his specific condition is unknown.
City leaders will share more information at an 8:30 p.m. press conference.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Five people were killed Thursday, including a 16-year-old boy and an off-duty Raleigh police officer, in a mass shooting in an east Raleigh neighborhood.
In an 8:30 a.m. press conference on Friday, Chief of Police Estella Patterson said the 15-year-old male shooter is in critical condition at WakeMed. Patterson said the initial shooting occurred in the streets of the Hedingham neighborhood before the shooter ran onto a greenway, where more people were shot.
Police on Friday identified the police officer who died as Officer Gabriel Torres, 29, saying he was on his way to work at the time of the shooting. James Roger Thompson, 16, and three adults identified as Nicole Conners, 52; Mary Marshall, 34 and Susan Karnatz, 49, died.
In addition to the five killed, two others were [were] injured. One of them was a Raleigh police K-9 officer, who was treated and released from the hospital. Marcielle Gardner, 59, was in critical condition.

An active shooting situation in an east Raleigh neighborhood on Thursday afternoon drew a large police response.
Multiple police vehicles and an ambulance were parked along Osprey Cove Drive, a residential area around 5:30.
Police officers were seen walking around the Hedingham neighborhood, behind homes.
Police are asking those in the area to remain in their homes and call 911 if they see anything or anyone suspicious.
