Democrat D.C. councilman Trayon White has been arrested by the FBI, as confirmed by D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson.
Mendelson told local station Fox 5 that he currently doesn’t know the reason for White’s arrest. He is still waiting to find out the charges and where White was taken into custody. The council chairman mentioned that the arrest happened around 2 p.m. and expressed surprise, noting that he was unaware of any ongoing investigation involving Mr. White.
“I’m anxious to get more details to understand what the situation is,” Mendelson told Fox 5. “You all know as much as I know.”
Trayon White is widely known for his controversial claim that the elite Rothschild family controls the weather.

The FBI has arrested D.C. Council member Trayon White Sr., according to the council’s chairman and two other people familiar with the matter.
The circumstances of the arrest, which occurred Sunday, and the nature of the allegations against White were not immediately clear. The FBI’s Washington Field Office declined to comment, and White and his chief of staff did not immediately return messages.
Council Chairman Phil Mendelson (D) said the arrest occurred about 2 p.m. He said he was previously unaware that White was under investigation.
White, a Democrat who was first elected in 2016, represents Ward 8 in Southeast Washington.
