Democrat campaign signs were found booby-trapped with razor blades in southeastern Pennsylvania, which resulted in sliced fingers for one resident, police said.
Upper Makefield Township police said Sunday that a campaign sign for Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Josh Shapiro, was placed without permission on someone’s property, and while trying to remove it the resident found that razor blades had been “placed around the perimeter of the sign.”
Unfortunately, the police noted that the resident who removed the sign from their yard was reportedly injured by the attached razor blades.
Police said they inspected all campaign signs and found razor blades placed around the perimeter of signs for two other Democratic candidates, John Fetterman and Ashley Ehasz. Fetterman is running for U.S. Senate and Ehasz for U.S. House.
“The below campaign signs were placed without permission on a subject’s property. When the resident went to remove the Shapiro sign from their property they were cut by the razor blades placed around the perimeter of the sign. Obviously, this was designed to inflict punishment on anyone who attempted to remove the sign,” the police department wrote, calling the act “unacceptable and disgusting”.

Over the past election cycles, we have dealt with theft of signs, vandalism of signs, neighbor disputes, etc.. but this is the first time we have dealt with this situation. What happened here is totally unacceptable and a disgusting act for which a resident ended up slicing their fingers.

We were contacted later and upon inspecting all the campaign signs, officers found that a Fetterman campaign sign and an Ehasz campaign sign also had razor blades placed around the perimeter of the sign. These signs were removed by the officers.
The investigation is on-going and we would like to ask residents that if you find signs on your property that have been placed there without permission, to please inspect them prior to their removal. If any implements have been installed on the signs, please contact us immediately. No matter your political affiliation, no matter your candidate preference, resorting to this type of depravity is unacceptable and criminal. We can do better and must.
