Amid increasing speculation about the potential for the return of Covid mandates, a mayor in Utah has vowed that his town will never enforce COVID-related lockdowns, mask requirements, or vaccine-based restrictions on its residents.
Mayor Trent Staggs of Riverton, Utah, a Republican who is also vying to challenge Mitt Romney for a U.S. Senate seat, told Breitbart News that his community resisted the widespread enforcement of lockdown measures during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Staggs stated, “In 2020, when they decided to enforce business closures, social distancing, and masking, I directed our police not to enforce; if they bring it back, 100 percent I will once again hold the line.”

“In Riverton, we believe in freedom and that people know better how to govern their lives than DC bureaucrats,” he added.
This update comes amid reports of colleges and small communities across the country reinstating masking regulations from the Covid-era, citing an alleged rise in cases… “coincidentally,” just in time for the 2024 election cycle.
Federal data reveals that hospitalizations due to the virus have surpassed 12,600 as of mid-August. These current statistics represent a mere fraction of the hospitalizations documented during the peak of the Omicron surge in early 2022, when weekly hospitalizations were approximately 150,000.
On Friday, Joe Biden announced his intention to seek additional funding from Congress for the development of a new COVID vaccine “that works.”
“I signed off this morning on a proposal we have to present to the Congress a request for additional funding for a new vaccine that is necessary, that works,” Biden told reporters during his stay in Lake Tahoe.
Biden warned that everyone will get it despite their previous vaccination status.
“It will likely be recommended that everybody get it no matter whether they’ve gotten it before or not.”
