Senator Rand Paul has officially made a criminal referral to the Department of Justice, calling for the prosecution of Anthony Fauci.
“I’ve referred Anthony Fauci to the DOJ (again) for lying to Congress when he denied the NIH was funding gain-of-function research in Wuhan,” Paul tweeted.
“In light of new information, I write to reiterate my previous request for the United States Department of Justice to open an investigation into testimony made to the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions by Dr. Anthony Fauci, former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), on May 11, 2021,” Paul wrote in a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland.
“On July 13, 2023 the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic released an email sent by Dr. Fauci on February 1, 2020 regarding a conference call regarding the origins of COVID-19 with Dr. Fauci, Dr. Francis Collins, and several scientific researchers. In the email, Dr. Fauci acknowledges concerns that COVID-19 may have been genetically engineered due to the fact that gain-of-function research was occurring in Wuhan prior to the pandemic,” Paul continued.
In December, Senator Paul told Fox News anchor Jesse Watters that Republicans had caught Fauci in several lies and that “he won’t get away.”
Fauci, the former Director of NIAID, previously testified and answered questions about the NIH’s role in funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab in China.
In September 2022, Rand Paul and Fauci got into a tense exchange regarding Fauci’s role in funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, which is likely what led to Covid-19.
“I know this is going to be shocking, but we learned that Dr. Fauci has been lying to us,” Paul sarcastically told Fox News host Jesse Watters.
“I think we reconfirmed that Dr. Fauci is not being honest us. Yes, the NIH funded gain-of-function research. Yes, it was dangerous. And, yes, nobody looked over this. Nobody reviewed the research,” Paul explained.
