On Wednesday, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) officially announced his bid for House Speaker in the wake of Kevin McCarthy’s removal from the position.
Jordan had hinted at the possibility of a speakership bid during a Tuesday night appearance on Fox News with host Sean Hannity. When Hannity inquired if he would consider the role if offered, Jordan replied, “I’m going to talk to the conference over the next week, Sean. I think that’s the key.”
Later, on Wednesday, Jim Jordan formally launched his campaign for the position of House Speaker.
“I respectfully ask for your support for Speaker of the House of Representatives,” Rep. Jordan said in a letter to his colleagues.

Fox News reported:
House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, announced he is running for speaker — the first GOP lawmaker to put his hat in the ring for what’s sure to be a competitive race.
The House of Representatives is without an elected leader after former speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., was ousted by a small group of rebels within his own party.
Jordan said Wednesday morning that he would step up to run for the job. House Republicans plan to hold a candidate forum next Tuesday and an election the following day.
As Breaking Digest reported, Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) will announce his bid for House Speaker later Wednesday, according to Politico.
