Ronald Powell, a former linebacker for the New Orleans Saints, has died suddenly at the age of 32, as announced by the NFL Players Association.

The cause of his death has not been revealed.

Having played four seasons in the NFL, Powell’s journey took him from being a standout college player to a fifth-round draft pick in 2014. Despite grappling with injuries, he experienced stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chicago Bears, and Seattle Seahawks. In 2018, he joined the Orlando Apollos of the Alliance of American Football for the 2019 season, but the minor league organization folded later that year.

The Players Association, in a statement, commended Powell as a family man who played honorably throughout his brief career.
