Bits and pieces of the “manifesto” allegedly written by Audrey Hale, the biological female who desperately wanted to be a male named Aiden and was responsible for the horrific shooting at Covenant School in Nashville in 2023, have been leaked. This comes after significant stonewalling by law enforcement officials over the release of the document.
The contents are even more disturbing than expected. Hale wrote about having an “imaginary penis” and expressed a desperate desire for puberty blockers, stating she would “kill” to obtain them. This was written in the manifesto just a few weeks prior to the shooting, according to James Reinl’s report for The Daily Mail.

The Tennessee Star confirmed on Wednesday that it had obtained nearly four dozen pages of Hale’s supposed writings from a source familiar with the investigation. An entry from March 11, 2023, revealed her intense desire to have a penis.
The Daily Mail reported that the writings express Hale’s anger toward her parents, her disdain for being raised in a conservative Christian home, and her alleged deep suffering because hormone blockers were not available to her when she was younger.
From the Daily Mail report:
Transgender killer Audrey Hale wrote about her ‘imaginary penis’ and how she would ‘kill’ to get puberty blockers in the weeks before her horrific attack on the Covenant School in Nashville last year.
The Tennessee Star obtained some four dozen pages of Hale’s writings that shed light on her female-to-male transition and why she shot and killed six people at the elementary school in March 2023.
Hale wrote about anger toward her parents, how she hated her conservative Christian upbringing, and how she had suffered because hormone blockers were not available when she was as a child.
The explosive writings, sometimes referred to as Hale’s ‘manifesto,’ have been a source of controversy, with many accusing officials of keeping them secret because they would hurt the trans community.
Now released, they help explain why the 28-year-old artist, who identified as a male named Aiden, shot her way into the Tennessee school, killing three adults and three nine-year-olds, before responding officers killed her.
Hale’s journal entries begin with the title ‘My Imaginary Penis’ and include a crude drawing, according to The Star.
‘My penis exists in my head. I swear to god I’m a male,’ Hale wrote in the papers, which were recovered by police.
She then wrote about her desire to have a penis so she could have sex with a woman, in her assumed identity as Aiden.
She wrote about how using that name on a job application for a delivery position led to issues with the company’s background check.
Hale also said that being raised as a girl was ‘torture.’
She worried that high school classmates would call her ‘dyke or a f*****’, she wrote.
That all changed when she learned about transgenderism in her early 20s.
‘I finally found the answer — that changing one’s gender is possible,’ wrote Hale.
Further into the document, Hale describes the challenges she faced when using the name Aiden on a job application, which led to complications during a background check. The writings also reveal a narrative about being raised as a girl, describing it as “torture.”
The disturbed young woman also wrote, “I hate parental views; how my mom sees me as a daughter — and she’d not bear to want to lose that daughter because a son would be the death of Audrey.”
On the second page of the entry, Hale further criticized her parents for their apparent lack of support for her transition, while also mentioning the emergence of puberty blockers in 2007.
“I’d kill to have those resources; 2007 was the birth of puberty blockers and a newfound discovery for treatment of non-conforming transgender children,” wrote Hale, adding, “I was in the 6th grade, puberty already hit me.”
Hale’s fantasies about experiencing intercourse as a man involved creating scenes with stuffed animals. She admitted to spending hours enacting these fantasies and becoming so engrossed that she lost track of time.
“I can pretend to be them [and] do the things boys do [and] experience my boy self as Tony,” which Hale explained is her “stuffed boy doll” which she wrote “is like the boy I am in another form,” per The Tennessee Star.
This disturbing entry was supposedly written just 16 days before Hale committed her attack on the Covenant School, resulting in the death of three 9-year-old students and three adults.
Assuming the writings really are Hale’s, it’s clear that she suffered from a rather severe mental illness and was in desperate need of treatment, but not to help her transition from female to male, which most rational people know is impossible. Instead she needed treatment to help her accept her gender and love herself as she is.
