Jean O’ Loughlin, who played for St. Anne’s Camogie and Ladies Gaelic Football Club, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, leaving the GAA community in Waterford in mourning.

Munster Camogie broke the news on Facebook saying the young woman had died following a short illness.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Jean O’Loughlin following a short illness. Jean began playing camogie at an early age for St.Anne’s and represented Waterford Camogie at Under 14 grade in 2016 and 2017 with great distinction, she was a current member of St Anne’s Junior panel.

We extend our deepest sympathy to her parents, Pauline and Paul, her brother Ben, her extended family, her team mates and all in st Anne’s Camogie and her wide circle of friends.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam Jean ❤️

Tributes have poured in on social media from the GAA community following the news of Jean’s passing.

Waterford LGFA announced that they would be holding a minute’s silence in her honour on Sunday. They stated ‘As a mark of respect for the late Jean O’Loughlin of St.Anne’s Camogie and Ladies Gaelic Football Club who passed away yesterday, a minutes silence will be observed prior to the Senior Final today.
