On Thursday, disgraced FBI Director, Christopher Wray, along with Secretary of DHS, Alejandro Mayorkas, and Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, Christine Abizaid, spoke before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs about security threats facing the United States.

During the hearing, Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) slammed Wray for leaving a statutorily required committee hearing early so he could go on a vacation.

Back in August, Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) requested more time with the FBI director so that he could ask more questions. Despite the request, Wray departed from the hearing and headed to his vacation home using the FBI’s Gulfstream 550 jet, which is intended to use for counterintelligence operations, Fox News reported.

House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik and other high-ranking Republicans demanded answers from FBI Director Chris Wray about his use of a government plane to go to his New York vacation property at taxpayer expense.

Wray claimed he had “other business” to attend to and couldn’t stay.

Sen. Hawley: “I think the last time that I got to visit with you was back on August 4 of this year.”

Sen. Hawley: “You were at the Senate Judiciary Committee. You remember that I assume. We had to cut that hearing short. We’re supposed to do two rounds of questions. You said you had to be somewhere, so we cut it short. Republicans were not able to ask a second round as we had been informed, we would,”

Sen. Hawley: “The press reported shortly thereafter that the reason that the hearing had to be cut short is because you were flying on a Gulfstream jet for a personal vacation in the Adirondack. Please tell me that’s not accurate.”

Dir. Wray: “The hearing was not cut short from my experience. We had agreed beforehand on the time and length of it, and I was very surprised to find that the Committee was surprised as to how I fly. I am required, not only permitted, but required to fly on an FBI plane wherever I go.”

Sen. Hawley: “So you were going on vacation?”

Dir. Wray: “I was, yes,”

Inept Chris Wray continues to fumble his way through another hearing and reveals that his most effective leadership act is to show up on time for his vacation. Quite a guy.
