There is growing concern about Joe Biden’s bid for re-election in 2024, which is being observed from both ends of the political spectrum.
Numerous left-leaning voters have become disillusioned with Biden, citing ongoing economic struggles, a decline in his cognitive abilities, and an “inconsequential” first term.
Consequently, an increasing number of Democrat voters find themselves feeling trapped and apprehensive about the upcoming 2024 election. Interestingly, while Republican and Democrat voters typically hold differing views on most issues, there is a shared sentiment: They don’t want Biden to run for a second term.
According to a recent national poll, Joe Biden’s popularity has fallen below that of the previous 13 presidents, dating back to Truman.
Supporters of the current administration argue that this decline is attributed to Biden assuming office during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent economic repercussions, as well as the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
However, Biden’s age remains a prominent concern for voters across the political spectrum. At 80 years old, both Republicans and Democrats express doubts about Biden’s ability to tackle the domestic and geopolitical challenges facing the United States.
While proponents of the current administration often assert that Biden is still more popular than Trump, the available data does not support this claim.
According to an analysis conducted in June, after completing his first year in office, Joe Biden’s popularity dipped below that of President Trump’s on day 509 and remained lower for over two months.
In February, White House physician Kevin O’Connor addressed the widespread concern surrounding Joe Biden’s age and mental acuity by releasing a presidential health summary affirming that he is “fit for duty.”
However, it appears that only a minority of people are convinced by this assessment. Polling data paints a concerning picture of how Americans perceive the current administration.
A recent survey conducted by Yahoo/YouGov showed that a significant majority of voters, comprising 67 percent, including 48 percent of Democrats, believe that Biden is too old to serve a second term.
Additionally, only 35 percent of respondents believe that Kamala Harris is qualified to assume the role of President if the need arises.
