It has been quite interesting to watch several Democrats, who previously labeled Republicans as “xenophobic” and “racist,” now come to the realization that there is indeed a border crisis. They are acknowledging that uncontrolled and illegal immigration into the country can have negative consequences.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) has shifted her stance on immigration to a more hawkish position due to the overwhelming influx of illegals into her state under the Biden administration. During her appearance on the CBS News’ Face the Nation on Sunday, Hochul called for limits on migration and for “doubling” or “quadrupling” the number of Border Patrol agents at the border.
Keep in mind that New York is not experiencing even close to the same level of migrant flow as Texas, where tens of thousands of illegals arrive daily. Despite the lower number of illegals, New York’s infrastructure is already showing signs of strain.
Suddenly, Democrats like Hochul are immigration hawks, demanding that the Biden administration take action in response to the crisis.
Governor Kathy Hochul:
Well, we want them to have a limit on who can come across the border. It is too open right now.
People coming from all over the world are finding their way through, simply saying they need asylum, and the majority of them seem to be ending up in the streets of New York. And that is a real problem for New York City, 125,000 newly arrived individuals. And we are being taxed. Now, we are always so proud of the fact that New York has the Statue of Liberty in our harbor – harbor. We are one of the most diverse places on Earth because of our welcoming nature and our – it’s in our DNA to welcome immigrants.
But there has to be some limits in place. And Congress has to put more controls at the border, and not in this budget threat…

Hochul placed blame on Republicans and Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), rather than Joe Biden, although Biden’s policies are the reason for the substantial increase in illegal immigration since he took residence at the White House in 2021.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) stated that his state has only sent approximately 15,800 migrants to New York. This suggests that the remaining 125,000-plus migrants are directly due to Joe Biden and his disastrous open-border policies.

It’s rather quaint for her to say that “a majority of them seem to be ending up on the streets of New York,” because while New York does face a significant challenge with 125,000 new arrivals, tens of thousands continue to arrive DAILY at a border that are completely overwhelming border states, particularly Texas.
