Special Counsel Jack Smith responded to President Trump’s motion to dismiss the classified documents case based on the “spoliation” of evidence.

Jack Smith admitted that the FBI staged photos of classified documents during the Mar-a-Lago raid.

The FBI took photos of the documents with cover sheets and publicly released them to damage Trump.

Smith’s admission, made in filings Monday, confirms investigative journalist Julie Kelly’s reporting. She previously highlighted that ominous yellow and red cover sheets were inserted by the FBI into boxes of documents, suggesting this was done to dramatize the seizure in publicized photographs.

On X, Kelly noted that the FBI had already found “loose classified cover sheets” in a blue leather-bound book in President Trump’s office.
