In response to the allegations of deceiving a court clerk to remove specific documents from a court docket, Hunter Biden’s attorneys have defended their actions, claiming it was a mere “misunderstanding,” because they truly believe the American people are idiots.

As reported by Breaking Digest earlier, according to the Daily Mail, an individual from the former law office of Hunter Biden’s attorney, Chris Clark, made a call to Delaware clerk Sam Grimes, falsely claiming to be from the office of Smith’s attorney, Theodore Kittila. The individual allegedly requested the removal of the original filing and 448 pages of Congressional testimony provided by two IRS whistleblowers involved in the case.

Subsequently, the documents were removed and sealed, leading to a second letter of outrage from Kittila. In the letter, Kittila wrote, “We promptly contacted the clerk’s office, and we were advised that someone contacted the court representing that they worked with my office and that they were asking the court to remove this from the docket.”

In an email response, Clark initially denied the allegations and asserted that “the clerk took the filing down on their own accord.”

In response to the dirty trick, Judge Maryellen Noreika ordered an explanation from Biden’s lawyers by 9 pm ET on Tuesday night.

The order from Judge Noreika read, “The Court has discussed the matter with the relevant individuals in the Clerk’s Office and has been informed that the caller, Ms. Jessica Bengels, represented that she worked with Mr. Kittila and requested the amicus materials be taken down.”

Fox News host Jesse Watters covered the development on Monday night.

On Monday night, the attorneys for Hunter Biden issued a statement addressing the allegations, stating, “The matter under consideration appears to stem from an unfortunate and unintentional miscommunication between a staff member at our firm and employees of the Court.”

“We have no idea how the misunderstanding occurred, but our understanding is there was no misrepresentation,” they added.

Furthermore, the lawyers emphasized that their Director of Litigation Services, who made the call, had appropriately disclosed her association with Latham & Watkins LLP to the ECF Clerk.

They wrote, “We hope this letter and the attached declaration dispels any suggestion that undersigned counsel or our staff would ever intentionally misrepresent or mislead the Court with respect to any matter.”
