A Gold Star mother, whose son tragically lost his life during the chaotic botched Afghanistan withdrawal, has shared the callous way Joe Biden treated her during her visit to the White House.
In August 2021, amid the tumultuous withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan, a suicide bomber blew himself up outside Kabul Airport, resulting in the deaths of 13 U.S. service members.
Among the fallen was Army Staff Sgt. Ryan Christian Knauss, and in 2022, his mother met Joe Biden during a gathering for Gold Star families held at the White House.
As detailed in a report by Daily Mail on Monday, during a Memorial Day event at the White House last year, Paula Knauss Selph met with Joe Biden in the Oval Office.
Paula Selph had hoped that the “president” would offer empathy, take responsibility, and provide her with a sense of closure. Unfortunately, Biden failed to fulfill any of those expectations.
During their meeting, Selph wept as she reflected on the loss of her son. Instead of offering comfort, Biden remained seated and even asked her if she wanted to take a photo with him.
In response, the grieving mother expressed her interest in a photo, but only if it could be taken next to her son’s tombstone at Arlington National Cemetery. Biden’s response was, “I can’t do that because Secret Service won’t let me do that.”
Selph characterized this behavior as a “moral disgrace,” emphasizing the lack of compassion or mercy shown to the families of the soldiers he led. She particularly held him accountable for the tragic incident.
The purpose of the meeting was to honor her and acknowledge her son’s sacrifice, allowing her to find some closure. However, Biden again turned the focus on himself by using the event as a photo op.
This is a pattern of behavior with Joe Biden. Since the Afghanistan withdrawal, he has displayed a similar lack of empathy towards other Gold Star families.
In 2021, he engaged with Cherry Rex, the mother of Lance Cpl. Dylan Merola, who was also tragically killed in the bombing. This interaction occurred during a ceremony for the transfer of Merola’s remains in Delaware. During their conversation, Biden drew a comparison between her loss and the loss of his own son, Beau, who passed away from cancer.
Rex said she found herself shaking with anger at the thought that Biden would try to use the occasion to garner sympathy for himself when the event was about the family who had just lost their own son.
Remember, Biden is directly responsible for what happened in Afghanistan and has yet to be held accountable.
His failure to ensure the safety of Americans from terrorists and the decision to leave behind valuable military equipment in the nation constitutes a dereliction of duty, for which he should have already been impeached.
