Once again, California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom finds himself confronted with a recall effort, marking the second attempt in three years, as a conservative group launches a new campaign to remove him from office.

On Monday morning, Rescue California served Newsom with a notice of intent to recall, echoing their involvement in the 2021 recall endeavor.

The conservative organization amassed over the requisite 1.5 million signatures to trigger a recall election. Nonetheless, California Governor Gavin Newsom survived the rigged recall election.

Concerns about potential fraud arose due to the lack of ballot custody oversight in ballot harvesting, mail-in ballots, ballot drop boxes, and the printing of ballots at home.

Despite more than 30% of petition signers to recall Newsom being Independents and Democrats, they want us to believe he won the recall by a “landslide”. Adding to the absurdity, Gavin Newsom allegedly won in conservative Orange County, with 52.6% voting “No” and 47.4% voting “Yes,” according to KTLA 5.

Undeterred by the previous outcome, Rescue California announced their intention on Monday to launch another recall campaign against Governor Newsom.

“We filed this morning. We served the governor with a notice of intent to recall. This is a preliminary element to the total process of recalling someone in office simultaneously. We then also filed with the Secretary of State,” said Anne Hyde Dunsmore, the Campaign Director for Rescue California.

Dunsmore attributed the decision to initiate a recall to a series of policy failures and fiscal mismanagement, highlighted by a $73 billion budget deficit reported by the Legislative Analyst’s Office—a figure that has increased rapidly in recent weeks.

According to Rescue California’s website:

Governor Newsom has abandoned the state to advance his Presidential ambitions, leaving behind a $68 Billion budget deficit and a public safety, immigration and education crisis. He:

  • Granted 700,000 illegal immigrants free health care at a cost to taxpayers of $3 billion annually, while cutting vital programs for veterans, school children, the disabled and the homeless.
  • Kept schools closed during Covid longer than other states allowing California students to fall further behind in basic skills such as language and mathematics.
  • Closed prisons and ordered the release of thousands of dangerous criminals onto our streets.
  • Weakened our public safety laws, creating an epidemic of smash and grab crimes and violent assaults.
  • Forced Californians to suffer under the highest taxes in the nation and the highest home prices outside Hawaii, while he undermines Prop. 13.
  • Spends billions on government homeless programs that have repeatedly failed.

Beginning with over 450 signatories spanning five counties, the endeavor surpasses the new state requirements, which dictate a minimum of 325 signatures from at least five counties.

Despite the logistical hurdles associated with organizing a recall, Dunsmore expresses confidence in her group’s approach. With a streamlined strategy and a lowered signature threshold compared to past campaigns, Rescue California aims to secure the necessary support well within the 160 to 180-day timeframe permitted.

The group faces a tight deadline to gather signatures, aiming to qualify for the ballot ahead of significant political events like the Democratic National Convention.

Dunsmore underscores that Rescue California is not aligning with any particular candidate to replace the governor. Instead, the organization seeks to foster an environment where capable leadership can emerge.

As momentum builds behind the recall movement, Dunsmore calls on Californians to join the cause, stressing the grassroots nature of the initiative and the imperative of holding the Governor accountable for the state’s financial challenges.
