A northeast Nebraska school district says its Superintendent has died unexpectedly.
The Madison Board of Education posted a statement on Facebook confirming the death of Superintendent, Alan Ehlers.
The cause of death has not been made public.
“We are grateful for Alan’s leadership and passion for education for over 10 years in Madison,” the statement read. “We ask that you keep Alan, his family, and everyone who loved him in your thoughts and prayers, while also respecting their privacy during this incredibly difficult time.”
According to the school board’s statement, classes and activities will continue but support is available at the school for students, staff and community members.
Ehlers had been the school’s Superintendent since 2012.
Funeral arrangements are still being made and will be made public at a later time.
