US Attorney General Merrick Garland denied the allegations made by IRS whistleblowers that the Justice Department attempted to impede felony recommendations against Hunter Biden.

On Thursday, the House Ways and Means Committee released deposition testimonies from two IRS whistleblowers that provided accounts of alleged Biden corruption. These whistleblowers disclosed information to lawmakers regarding the Justice Department’s alleged efforts to obstruct search warrants and cover up Hunter Biden’s tax crimes.

One of the whistleblowers, Gary Shapely, confirmed to prosecutors regarding a meeting between Joe Biden and officials from CEFC, a Chinese energy company.

Additionally, Shapely disclosed that Hunter Biden demanded payment from his Chinese business associate via WhatsApp messenger and used his father’s position as leverage while issuing threats.

As per the IRS whistleblower, the WhatsApp message sent by Hunter Biden to Henry Zhao reads as follows:

I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight. And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.

During a press conference on Friday, Attorney General Merrick Garland took questions from reporters regarding concerns over the integrity of his department in light of the developments surrounding the Biden Crime Family.

Garland dismissed those concerns as an “attack” on both the Justice Department and Democracy.

“Some have chosen to attack the integrity of the Justice Department by claiming that we do not treat ‘like’ cases alike,” Garland said. “This constitutes an attack on an institution that is essential to American democracy… Nothing could be further from the truth.”

Watch:

Merrick Garland has repeatedly asserted that the Department of Justice (DOJ) did not obstruct or impede US Attorney David Weiss from aggressively pursuing charges against Hunter Biden.

“Mr. Weiss, who was appointed by President Trump as the US attorney in Delaware and assigned this matter during the previous administration, would be permitted to continue his investigation and to make a decision to prosecute any way in which he wanted to and in any district in which he wanted to,” Garland said during a press conference Friday.

“Mr. Weiss has since sent a letter to the House Judiciary Committee confirming that he had that authority. I don’t know how it would be possible for anybody to block him from bringing a prosecution, given that he has this authority,” Garland added.

Following Garland’s denial of the claims and his accusation that the whistleblower, Gary Shapley, was lying, Shapley responded by naming six additional witnesses who, he asserted, could corroborate that it was Garland who was lying.

In a statement through his attorneys, whistleblower Gary Shapley said the following:

In an October 7, 2022, meeting at the Delaware U.S. Attorney’s Office, U.S. Attorney David Weiss told six witnesses he did not have authority to charge in other districts and had thus requested special counsel status. Those six witnesses include Baltimore FBI Special Agent in Charge Tom Sobocinski and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Ryeshia Holley, IRS Assistant Special Agent in Charge Gary Shapley and Special Agent in Charge Darrell Waldon, who also independently and contemporaneously corroborated Mr. Shapley’s account in an email, now public as Exhibit 10, following p. 148 of his testimony transcript. Mr. Shapley would have no insight into why Mr. Weiss’s would make these statements at the October 7, 2022 meeting if they were false. That Mr. Weiss made these statements is easily corroborated, and it is up to him and the Justice Department to reconcile the evidence of his October 7, 2022 statements with contrary statements by Mr. Weiss and the Attorney General to Congress.
