Sam Stacks – Marble Falls Fire Rescue Captain / Spicewood Fire Rescue Chief

A Marble Falls and Spicewood Fire Agency leader died after being hospitalized for a sudden illness.

On Friday, Sept. 23, officials announced that Sam Stacks, Marble Falls Fire Rescue Captain and Spicewood Fire Rescue Chief had passed away after suffering a sudden illness.

He was 49.

His cause of death has not been made public.

“Sam’s reputation in the community, his work ethic and leadership presence have been instrumental to the evolution of Spicewood Fire Rescue over the past three years,” ESD9 President and Commissioner said in a statement. “We simply could not have found anyone better for the job. His presence and leadership in our district will be greatly missed, and his impact will last forever.”

Captain Stacks was described as a “mentor who had a gruff exterior, but one of the biggest hearts.”

A twitter user shared a video of the police escort.
