A House Democrat, who obviously didn’t bother to read the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity, announced that he plans to file a constitutional amendment to reverse the decision.
On Monday, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that Trump has absolute immunity for actions within his core Constitutional powers.
The court affirmed that former presidents are presumed to have immunity for their official acts but clarified that there is no immunity for unofficial acts.
The Supreme Court did not suggest that a president is “above the law.”
The decision will return Jack Smith’s DC case to Judge Tanya Chutkan.
“I will introduce a constitutional amendment to reverse SCOTUS’ harmful decision and ensure that no president is above the law. This amendment will do what SCOTUS failed to do—prioritize our democracy,” Rep. Joe Morelle (D-NY) posted on X.

Targeting our nation’s highest court because they didn’t rule the way that you wanted is, itself, a threat to our constitutional republic, not “democracy.”
