Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein was hospitalized on Tuesday after a fall at her San Francisco residence, sources told TMZ.
The extent of her injuries remains unclear; nevertheless, it is confirmed that she was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. TMZ reports that she was discharged and able to return home later that evening.
As of now, Feinstein’s office has not issued an official statement regarding her recent fall.
At the age of 90, the California Senator has encountered multiple health challenges over the past year.
Earlier this year, Feinstein took a nearly three-month long leave of absence from the Senate in order to recover from a series of medical conditions. These included shingles, facial paralysis, memory loss, vision and balance impairments, as well as swelling of the brain.
Her diminished capacity to look after herself has forced her to grant power of attorney to her daughter.
Despite this, she remains a sitting member of the Senate and makes decisions that impact hundreds of millions of Americans.
This is absolutely ridiculous.
In the past week, Feinstein appeared confused while attempting to deliver a speech during a Senate vote.
Senate Appropriations Chairwoman Patty Murray had to instruct Feinstein to “just say aye.”
Instead of voting “aye,” Feinstein started to give a speech.
“I would like to support a yes vote on this, it provides $823 billion. That’s an increase of $26 billion for the Department of Defense, and it funds priorities–” Feinstein said as an aide rushed over to her to stop her from giving a long-winded speech.
“Just say aye,” the chairwoman said.
A confused Feinstein said, “Ok, aye!”
