Consumers’ Research, a conservative nonprofit organization, has launched a new text alert system to help shoppers avoid products from woke companies.
According to their website, the organization was “founded in 1929 with the mission to educate and protect consumers from harmful products.”
“Woke Alerts have officially launched: now you can be the first to know when companies cave to the woke agenda,” Consumers’ Research tweeted.
Consumers’ Research also encourages consumers to report woke companies:
At Consumers’ Research, we believe that corporations need to start serving their customers, not woke politicians. If you see companies who are going woke in order to distract from bad business practices or are engaging in political activity not aligned with their mission, we want to hear from you. You can confidentially share your story and help us continue to fight for our values.
The New York Post reported:
By entering a phone number, conservative-minded shoppers will receive text updates on companies deemed to have strayed too far left in their marketing and other strategies.
“Many corporations are putting progressive activists and their dangerous agendas ahead of customers,” the sign-up page reads.
“They’ll only succeed if we look the other way.”
As of Friday morning, the group had already issued warnings on Bud Light — which recently came under fire from the far right for partnering with trans activist Dylan Mulvaney — and Jack Daniel’s 2021 “Small Town, Big Pride” campaign.
We are launching Woke Alerts to help consumers make better-informed decisions about where to spend their money,” executive director Will Hild told the outlet.
“We believe companies should focus on their customers and not woke politicians and progressive activists.”
The website lists recent woke alerts for Jack Daniel’s, Bud Light, Blackrock and Silicon Valley Bank.
Consumers’ Research wrote the following about Bud Light:
Brewing behemoth Anheuser-Busch recently sent specialized cans of its Bud Light beer to trans activist Dylan Mulvaney, featuring the TikTok influencer’s face and printed text that celebrated her first “365 Days of Girlhood.” Mulvaney, who transitioned from male to female in March 2021, wrote on April 1 that cans are a “most prized possession” on Instagram with a post featuring “#budlightpartner.” A video then featured Mulvaney in a bathtub drinking a Bud Light beer as part of an official Bud Light campaign.
Bud Light’s vice president of marketing said that she intended to update the “fratty” and “out of touch” humor of the beer company with inclusivity, yet the company’s woke move was deeply offensive to its core customers and their values.
Some have suggested that the company was more focused on getting a high Corporate Equality Index score than pleasing its own customer base. CEI scoring is managed by the Human Rights Campaign (the world’s largest LGBTQ+ political lobby) and is a lesser-known part of the ESG movement.
