Following a mass shooting that resulted in five fatalities and injuries to multiple individuals, including two minors, leftist Philadelphia District Attorney, Larry Krasner, called for a swearing off “NRA money”. Krasner also warned during a press conference that “transphobia” would not be tolerated, following the identification of the shooter as a supporter of Black Lives Matter and cross-dresser.
During a CNN appearance, Krasner said, “It’s time for this legislature and legislatures across the country to swear off their addiction to NRA money. And swear off their addiction to this gun fetish.” He also called on lawmakers to swear off, “this absurd interpretation of the 2nd Amendment that has been put out there by militias.”
“And frankly, it’s time for the Supreme Court to cut it out. This should not be a country of guns, it should be a country of people,” Krasner went on to say.
Watch:
Philadelphia, known for having the highest murder rate among the ten largest cities in America, already has strict gun laws within its jurisdiction.
Despite advocating for increased gun control measures on multiple occasions, Krasner appears to be unable to effectively enforce the existing gun laws. Since assuming office, his conviction rate in gun-related cases is considerably lower compared to previous district attorneys, with nearly 50% resulting in no conviction.
Furthermore, in addition to his calls for gun control, Krasner has made it clear that any form of “bigotry” directed towards the transgender BLM supporting mass shooter will not be tolerated because ensuring that the murderer feels “included” is what is really important to him.
During a press conference, Krasner said, “Just as we would never tolerate an act of gun violence from any member of the community, we cannot tolerate acts of hatred and bigotry directed at members of any community, including the most marginalized among us.” Adding, “While law enforcement’s investigation of this mass shooting is still active and ongoing, there are certain facts we can acknowledge: Trans and gender-nonconforming people are subjected to a great deal of state-sanctioned bigotry and the poverty, violence, and victimization that marginalized people endure.”
“A culture that seeks to isolate trans and gender-nonconforming people from the full benefits of democracy is a culture that encourages violence against LGBTQ+ people. Trans and gender-nonconforming people are not the danger,” he continued. “A culture that encourages violence against out groups and that simultaneously cheers when communities are flooded with weapons of war — that culture is the danger.”
It seems that Krasner has conveniently forgotten that it was the transgender in this case that committed the heinous act with a gun.
