On Tuesday night, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) used a privileged motion to introduce articles of impeachment against Joe Biden, aiming to force a vote on the floor.
The articles presented by Boebert center around Biden’s disastrous immigration policies and the ongoing crisis at the US-Mexico border.
The introduction of these impeachment articles coincided with court filings that revealed Hunter Biden got a sweetheart deal pertaining to misdemeanor tax offenses and a felony firearm crime.
During her speech, Boebert broke down both articles of impeachment, namely abuse of power and dereliction of duty, outlining their key points and arguments.
“Article 1, Abuse of Power. The Constitution provides that the House of Representatives quote shall have the sole power of impeachment end quote and that the president of the United States, quote, shall be removed from office on impeachment for and conviction of treason bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors, end quote,” Boebert stated.
“In his conduct as president of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional oath, faithfully to execute the office of the President of the United States, and to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
“Article 2, Dereliction of Duty. The Constitution provides that the House of Representatives, quote, shall have the sole power of impeachment, end quote, and that the President of the United States, quote, shall be removed from office on impeachment for and the conviction of treason, bribery, and other high crimes and misdemeanors.” In his conduct as President of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional oath, faithfully to execute the office of the President of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, Joseph R. Biden Jr. has neglected the constitutional duty of the office of the President of the United States.”
“I am bringing my articles of impeachment against Joe Biden to the House Floor in a privileged motion, meaning that every Member of Congress must vote on holding Joe Biden accountable,” Boebert tweeted.
“Biden intentionally ceded command & control of our border to cartels. His dereliction of duty caused the deaths of over 900 Coloradans from fentanyl, enabled sex-trafficking, & allowed an invasion,” Boebert wrote in separate tweet.
