House Republicans are indicating that they are nearing a successful vote to impeach Biden’s top immigration official, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, for allowing a never-ending flood of illegal immigrants to cross the southern border at record levels.
Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) told Fox News, as reported by the American Tribune, that the GOP believes it has gathered the necessary votes to hold Secretary Mayorkas accountable for an immigration crisis that has overwhelmed liberal enclaves such as Chicago and New York. This situation has also led to conflicts between Texas state officials and federal border agents on how to handle the substantial influx of illegal crossings. This move follows multiple hearings focused on Mayorkas’s culpability.

“Right now, we are assembling articles of impeachment to present to our committee. We will mark those up in committee very shortly after getting back, and then, passing the committee, they will go to the floor for a vote on the floor,” Green told host Maria Bartiromo on her Fox News show, “Sunday Morning Futures”.
He noted that the slim majority held by Republicans is being affected by a number of lawmakers who are out for health issues.
“One of our challenges is just the folks that are out for health issues right now, but once those individuals get back, I anticipate a very quick vote on the floor,” he added.
Rep. Green anticipates a vote could come as early as February. He confirmed that his caucus “has the votes” required for impeachment, although he expressed skepticism about whether the vote would ultimately result in Mayorkas stepping down from his position at the Department of Homeland Security.
“I certainly hope so, Maria,” he said. “Look, this guy has subverted the laws passed by Congress, ignoring a co-equal branch of government. It’s very clear the law says ‘shall detain,’ and Mayorkas has done everything not to detain. In fact, he’s created systems that… what he calls lawful parole, but it’s actually totally contradicting the Immigration and Nationality Act that was passed by this Congress.”

There is a fentanyl epidemic sweeping this nation. Roughly 150,000 Americans died from fentanyl poisoning in 2021 & 2022. Fentanyl is ripping apart our families and destroying our communities. More with @MariaBartiromo ⤵️ pic.twitter.com/iYlWDmNO6O

Mayorkas, who has testified at congressional hearings to defend his record on the border, has countered accusations that he has failed at his job. Mayorkas has emphasized that the administration is dedicated to deterring illegal crossings and improving deportation methods, especially in connection with a funding deal related to Ukraine.
A blatant lie.
