America-hating Squad member Rep. Ilhan Omar has won the race for Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District.

The Associated Press has declared Omar the victor in the Democratic primary.

Despite slower vote counting in MN-05 compared to other congressional districts, with 99 percent of the votes now tallied, Omar has secured a 13.3-point lead over Samuels, with a margin of 16,000 votes.

Omar will face Republican candidate Dalia Al-Aqidi in November, but given the district’s D+30 rating, she is expected to win easily. Unlike her fellow “Squad” members Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) and Cori Bush (D-MO), Omar appears poised to return to Washington, D.C. for the 119th Congress.

The Hill reported:

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) has won the primary for the Democratic nomination for her seat representing Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, almost certainly giving her two more years in the House, Decision Desk HQ projects.

Omar fended off a challenge from former Minneapolis City Council member Don Samuels, who nearly upset her two years ago in a primary. In 2022, she won by less than 2,500 votes in a race where more than 110,000 total votes were cast.

In her victory speech, Omar likened her opponent’s supporter to “literal nazis.”

Watch:

Earlier, the primary election in Minnesota took a surprising twist as social media buzzed with concerns over the noticeable delay in reporting results from the state’s 5th Congressional District. As time passed, speculation mounted about the reasons behind this unexpected delay.

More than an hour after the polls closed, initial results were in from every district except Omar’s.

The lack of updates from the 5th District only intensified suspicions and raised questions about the process’s integrity.

Finally, after a tense one hour and ten minutes, NBC News provided an update: Ilhan Omar was reportedly leading by a slim margin of just 188 votes.
