On September 28th, Scott LoBaido, a self-described “Patriot-Artist-Activist,” unveiled a 30-foot banner emblazoned with the message “CLOSE THE F***ING BORDER” over the Staten Island Freeway. In a video shared by LoBaido, he stated, “My latest masterpiece in Staten Island NY. Sometimes a picture is worth 4 words.”

Staten Island, although a borough of New York City, tends to lean conservative. Staten Island has a Republican representative, Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, who serves New York’s 11th District, which covers the borough. In the 2020 presidential election, the district favored President Trump.
In early September, fans attending a Yankees’ home game took the opportunity during the 7th-inning stretch to display a massive banner bearing the message “TRUMP OR DEATH – 1776 – 2024.”

During a recent town hall meeting, New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) issued a dire warning about Joe Biden’s ongoing migrant crisis, stating, “Let me tell you something, New Yorkers. Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this. This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City,” and “The city we knew… we’re about to lose.”
