Mexican actor and ballad singer Julián Figueroa has died at the age of 27, his mother confirmed Monday.
Figueroa was the son of actress Maribel Guardia and singer Joan Sebastian, who died in 2015. Guardia wrote that Figueroa died of an acute myocardial infarction – a heart attack – and ventricular fibrillation.
Ventricular Fibrillation is considered the most serious abnormal heart rhythm, according to heart.org.
In an Instagram post, Guardia said that her son died over the weekend.
Excerpt of Guardia’s post, translated via Google Translate:
I am sorry to have to communicate the departure of my beloved son Julián Figueroa, who unfortunately was ahead of us in this plane. He was found unconscious tonight in his room, while I was in the theater. They called 911 and when the
Ambulance and the police found him already lifeless, without a trace of any violence. The medical report indicates that he died of an acute myocardial infarction and ventricular fibrillation.
Figueroa sang northern-inspired ballads accompanied by a traditional band. His hits included songs like Yo sería, Ay amor, and Volaré.
